The popular holiday resort of Diekirch - right on the border between Ösling belonging to the Ardennes and southern Gutland - is not only known for the brewery of the same name. Diekirch grew out of a Roman settlement and received city rights in 1260. The Gothic Old Church (1467) was built on the site of a Roman temple and includes parts of the original Romanesque church from the 7th century while the tower dates from the 12th century.
