very nice place in the center of Ottmarsheim, with a small cafe by the pond.

The former abbey church is one of the most famous Romanesque churches on the Upper Rhine. This jewel of the architecture of the 11th century is characterized by an octagonal floor plan based on the example of the Palatinate Chapel of Charlemagne in Aachen. The abbey church, built in 1030 by Count Rudolf von Altenburg from the House of Habsburg, was consecrated in 1049 by Pope Leo IX. This monastery church is really worth a visit.
