Great carving

A gigantic sprite that no one had ever really seen before. There was talk of an opening in the mountain. Brightly lit halls, chambers and grottoes that were supposed to be filled with treasures of all kinds. Mountain spirits were at his service, who sometimes appeared to people as birds, dwarfs or even little flames.So lived this gigantic figure with flowing hair, a gray beard and a long hooded cloak, which only night hikers could see here and there when they passed the mountain, inside the Müssenberg.Despite his fearsome form, no one was really afraid of him. Everyone knew that he helped the good and brought the wicked their due. There were the two brothers, who couldn't be more different in character. One piled up more and more goods with his mischief and didn't rest until the other lay in misery. This lasted until the old man from Müssnberg came into play with two boxes. One finally brought the impoverished brother the longed-for prosperity and the other death by flames. There was also the widow and the girl who became bitterly poor when the mother got an eye disease and could no longer sew. A needle, given by the old man from the mountain, did the sewing work overnight. In another story we learn that a tailor, who preferred to look out of the window during the day instead of doing his job and was therefore called master sponge thread, envied them this needle. But the old man didn't give him a diligent needle, but a yardstick, which beat him out of his laziness until his family had something to eat again and the lazybones liked to do his work.
