Guabiruba central square, with the attraction of Pelznickel, a folkloric figure brought by German immigrants. Pelznickel, or Santa Claus of the Mato, is a helper from São Nicolao who, in the evening of the 6th and 24th of December, leaves the forest where he resides and invades the streets of Guabiruba. Covered in leaves, old beard or rags in dark clothes, with frightening horns and masks, he carries chains, whips and loud instruments.
