Surrounding the grounds of the San Rafael Historical Museum is a large partially fenced in area with manicured lawn, picnic tables, playground, and a hiking trail along the stream, leading up to the San Rafael Hill (664 feet). The museum is a restored Victorian that will someday be open to the public. Lots of shady trees such as loquat, maple, cedar, and redwoods. The 80-year old museum in a restored Victorian building at the corner of Boyd Memorial Park closed after management troubles in 2015. It underwent a complete board restructuring and prepares to be open to the public again in a few years. marinhistory.org
