The Adda (Ada in Lombard language, female gender) is a northern Italian river whose course is entirely included in the Lombardy Region. Its name comes from the Celtic language of the ancient local populations, and means "flowing water".
It is the longest tributary of the Po and, with a path that stretches for 313 km, is the fourth Italian longest river after the Po and Adige River Tiber and the sixth for amplitude after Po basin, Tiber, Adige, the Tanaro and Arno. Limited to tributaries rivers (ie that does not flow directly to the sea, but in another stream), it is the one with the greater length in the peninsula.
