A beautiful castle not to be missed. A visit is highly recommended. Even as a child I was particularly fascinated by the bog bodies and the Nydam boat.
Gottorf Castle, this magnificent white building at the entrance to Schleswig from the 15th century, was once the residence of the Gottorf dukes. They made Schleswig the cultural center of Northern Europe in the 16th and 17th centuries.

The Schleswig Museum Island offers an exciting excursion into the history of Schleswig-Holstein, overwhelming archaeological treasures and works of art. One of the highlights is the castle itself, which now houses the Museum of Archeology and the Museum of Art and Cultural History.
