Ampelakia is a small mountain village on the Tempi Valley in the prefecture Larisa in Greece. The village is very old, but still preserved originally. By Georg Schwarz (actually George Mavros, Greek for Georg Schwarz) the place became known. Here, Mr. Schwarz founded the first agricultural cooperative in the world. You need sturdy shoes in Ampelakia because the streets are paved. The place itself is very small, you can not get lost.In the center there is a nice place with taverns. Here you can eat wonderful Greek or even treat yourself to a coffee. Of course, there is also a kiosk where you can buy everything you need for the trip. There is a beautiful, very old bakery, where the bread is still baked in the traditional way. You will find them, if you go from the main square towards the church immediately on the left side. One should not miss to try this bread. Best when it is fresh and still warm.If you continue along the path, you will come to a beautiful church, which you can also visit. That should not be missed. It is not tailored to tourists and you should definitely observe the rules of the Orthodox Church when you enter them.
