The canal bridge over the Stever led the Alte Fahrt of the Dortmund-Ems-Canal (DEK) in the north of Olfen over the Stever. The bridge is one of three historic bridges of the Alte Fahrt of the Dortmund-Ems-Kanal. Further south, the DEK crosses the Schiefe Brücke the east road in Olfen and with another canal bridge the Lippe. The canal transfer was designed in the style of historicism under the direction of the Royal Prussian Chief Building Director Karl Hinckeldeyn and executed in 1894. It is very similar to the other two bridges, as the faces of all three buildings are made of Ruhr sandstone. At the bridge start the Steverauen, a renatured recreational area with half-grazing rear cattle and Konik horses, which extends to the Füchtelner mill.Bridge trough and Old Ride are no longer filled with water in this area. They were included in the hiking and biking trails around Olfen.

Very nice raft trip and competent explanation about the Steverauen, the animal project and nature conservation. Funny was our boatman even more! It was a pleasure.
