Mountain Biking Highlight
A relic from the terrible Nazi war policy: The Westwall. The surviving parts of the tank barriers can be found in our region in many places, which are called because of their shape and cusp line or dragon's teeth. Today they are not only a memorial, but also a retreat for plants and animals.

Presumably, the term Westwall came more and more in use from the end of 1938, without the National Socialist propaganda initially using the term in particular. He probably comes from the circle of workers involved in the construction. In the second half of 1938, terms such as "Schutzwall", "Todt Line" or "Limes Program" were used, military circles wanted to popularize names such as "Führer Line" or "Hitler Line". The name Westwall probably appeared for the first time on 19 November 1938 in an article in the daily newspaper NSZ-Rheinfront dedicated to the men of the Western Wall. Hitler used the term for the first time publicly during his visit to the Western fortifications from 14 to 19 May 1939 and issued on May 20, 1939 a daily order to the soldiers and workers of the Westwall. The official linguistic usage was based more on the programs described below, with "Limes program" a name was chosen that should commemorate the former Roman border wall in Germania.
