Hoek van Holland is a special coastal town. He has the charm of a small artist village. In good weather, the beach and pier attract. And if you have no luck with the weather, the place impresses with a picturesque coziness. The location at the mouth of the Rhine is simply unique. The "Nieuwe Waterweg" (New Waterway) is the setting for imposing seagoing vessels to sail to the port of Rotterdam - from the freighter from the Far East to the luxurious cruise ship.

Hoek van Holland (German corner of Holland) is now a municipality of Rotterdam, but has retained the character of a small coastal town and seaside resort. It is located in South Holland at the main estuary of the Rhine. This stream section of the Rhine is called here for river history reasons but Oude Maas (Old Maas) and was built in 1872 to the so-called Nieuwe Waterweg (Neuer Wasserweg). Neighboring towns are Monster, 's-Gravenzande and Naaldwijk in the northwest and Maassluis in the southeast. On the other side of the river lie the Europoort and Maasvlakte (Wikipedia).
