The Reichersberg Augustinian Canonry is an impressive monastery in Upper Austria that has existed for over 900 years. It is picturesquely situated on the Inn River and belongs to the Austrian Augustinian Canonry.

The monastery offers guided tours, where visitors can learn more about the history and lives of the canons. There is also a wine shop where the monastery's own wines can be sampled. In addition to its religious significance, the monastery is also an educational and event center with a diverse program of courses.

      Beautiful monastery complex!😊
      It's worth planning some time.

The monastery was founded between 1080 and 1084 by Wernher von Reichersberg (from the Hemma-Askuin family) and his wife Dietbirga, a sister of Archbishop Gebhard of Salzburg (1060–1088). They chose St. Michael the Archangel as their patron. There is no founding certificate for the monastery, nor was it “subsequently prepared” as was often the case back then. The first records of the monastery begin in the middle of the 12th century.

The monastery complex is grouped around two courtyards. The properties are still used intensively by the canons today: an inn offers regional specialties from the Innviertel. The monastery shop offers specialties from Austrian monasteries. The monastery itself produces wine from various grape varieties, liqueurs and brandies. The monastery also houses an education center and, since 2004, a congress and event center and a guest house. The Festmusik im Stift (formerly Reichersberger Sommer) with concerts also takes place in the monastery every year.
