After the last town fire in 1856, the Church of St. George was rebuilt over a period of about four years and consecrated again in the autumn of 1859. The organ was built in the same year in the workshop of the master Gotthilf Bärmig from Werdau.

The altarpiece was painted by Professor Wichmann from Dresden.
As the latest detail, the new bells were dedicated in autumn 2019, which were designed by the artist Peter Luban and manufactured in the Grassmayr bell foundry.
