The ascent to Mount Nevoso is very beautiful, it starts through a wood with a comfortable gently sloping road with beautiful views of the Slovenian karst. When you pass the forest, the view extends to the Triglav with sweeping views. Arriving at the saddle you can see the sea with the coast of Istria and the island of Cres in winter the landscape is truly impressive with real ice sculptures. The climb to the refuge is a bit more challenging but the view is wonderful and deserves all the effort. The refuge is in a spectacular position and in winter it is completely frozen but offers a warm shelter for cold hikers. The ascent with snowshoes or crampons is recommended, the more daring can descend on skis or snowboard.
