Bike Touring Highlight
The city of Attendorn has had another tourist highlight since April 2013. The new viewing platform "Biggeblick" towers high above the Biggesee. It gives visitors an incomparable moment. At a height of 90 meters you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the Biggesee with the Gilberg Island and the Waldenburg castle ruins. The spectacular lighting in the evening is also a very special experience.

The Bigge Blick viewing platform has been one of the main attractions on Lake Biggesee since July 2013. A ten meter long walkway takes you to the free-hanging dome. This measures a proud eight meters in diameter. In the middle there is an opening about three meters in size, in the middle of which an unmistakable “needle” protrudes. The steel structure hangs 90 meters above the lake and is equipped with a grid floor. Even if you are afraid of heights, the Biggesee viewing platform is easy to walk on. Especially since the fantastic view quickly distracts the visitor.
You can of course see the Biggetalsperre (dam) and its “lighthouse” on the right. Straight ahead you look directly at the Gilberginsel, left at the Waldenburger Bucht and a little further right at the castle ruins Waldenburg. We look for the castle ruins for a while before we find it, as it is well camouflaged by the surrounding trees. The hills and forests here present the typical Sauerland landscape. Dressed in pretty autumn colors when we visit.
You will experience a particular highlight if you visit the viewing platform in the evening. The Skywalk is really beautifully staged in the dark. The “needle” rising up in the middle is illuminated by white light, while the lower ring of the viewing platform shines in blue light. This scene is an extremely popular destination for photographers.
