The diversity of the landscape of the Senne can be experienced in the Moosheide. In the largest nature reserve of the Senne, the natural and cultural landscapes are close together.
The Ems and Krollbach valleys are essential elements. But there are also arid valleys that point to the earlier activity of water bodies. The inland dunes are just as striking. Most of the area is taken up by pine forests. The landscape is loosened up by arable and grassland as well as dry grass and heather areas. The source of the Ems is a particular attraction. From a wooden footbridge in the valley floor, you can see the numerous spring outlets up close with dry feet. A hike in the area is made even more attractive in August by the heather bloom.
