The first planet trail on the Lower Lower Rhine is intended to represent the unimaginable dimensions of our solar system in a model and thus make it a little experienceable and hikeable. It combines the experience of a hike in our attractive Lower Rhine landscape with interesting information about the sun and its children, the planets.

The planet path begins here at the city wall. On a smaller scale, you drive from the sun to the planets. Mercury then quickly follows Venus Earth and Mars. it takes a little longer until Jupiter and Saturn. Uranus and Neptune do not follow until much later when you can no longer even see the (sun) city wall. Pluto, which is no longer a planet today, will follow further out.
Memo: My father explains our night sky to me every Sunday. Formerly "our nine planets"

Super exciting! The planets of our solar system are (of course converted) their distance from the sun along the way on boards. Short descriptions on the boards let us as non-astronomers simply marvel at the incredible dimensions. Certainly also great for families with children!
