There is no documentary evidence of its origin. It is believed that it was founded as a mansion after the conquest of Bevergern by the Bishop of Münster in 1400. It was first mentioned in documents in 1474 as the residence of the Lords of Langen.

A fairytale moated castle in the middle of beautiful forests, which unfortunately cannot be visited from the inside as it is privately owned. The most famous resident was probably the late former farmer president Constantin Heereman von Zuydtwyck.
