Randersacker – Wine Geology – From stone to wine – making what is not visible visible

It stands out strikingly from the landscape and the Randersacker Sonnenstuhl location: the “potato tower” as it is popularly called. It has an eventful history behind it that needs to be discovered. Today it is built from local shell limestone and represents the building culture of churches, wayside shrines and winegrowers' houses made of this stone and, of course, the theme of “terroir and wine”.

With a gigantic view into the Main Valley all the way to Würzburg and the Marienberg Fortress, the visitor learns how geology, soil, topography, climate, grape varieties and winemakers form the Franconian terroir. The geological phase of the Franconian Triassic is presented in an exciting way.
