Built between 1923 and 1924, it was designed by Oskar Pusch and Carl Krämer as an exhibition hall and used as an exhibition space for machine tools. From 1927 the hall was used under the name Achilleion as a sports arena for about 8,000 spectators. In the 2nd World War II, the hall was reopened in 1950 as a Soviet pavilion. The hall is a listed building, Leipzig will use this hall as an archive, while the old extensions are demolished and replaced.
