The training ground "Brönnhof" was the third largest training ground of the U. Army in Europe. The "Brönnhof" is located north of the city of Schweinfurt and lies in the territory of the municipalities Üchtelhausen, Dittelbrunn and Maßbach in the district of Schweinfurt. The associated shooting range "Haardtwald" is located about two kilometers south of it and is mainly in the area of the city Schweinfurt.

The Brönnhof is a 25.34 km² large, mostly forested and uninhabited area in the northwest of the Schweinfurt Rhön (Hesselbacher Waldland). It is in the district of Schweinfurt, a small, northern strip belongs to the district of Bad Kissingen. The Brönnhof courtyard desert lies in the middle of the area and gave its name to the entire area.
The middle part of the Brönnhof belonged to the Teutonic Order. The approx. 10 km² large forest area in the northeastern part is called Jeusing (place name: the Jeusing), named after Jeusungen, a desert located here, which was first mentioned in documents in 791. Later, the Brönnhof was a community-free area and was connected to the Weipoltshausen district of Üchtelhausen as part of the reform of the municipal area.
