Lauta old water tower. It should actually be torn down because it was no longer needed. However, there was resistance from the population, as it has become the landmark of Lauta due to its quite distinctive character.

The water tower in Lauta (district of Bautzen) belongs to the former Lautawerk United Aluminum Works and is a landmark of the city. This reinforced concrete skeleton tower does not come from the initial construction phase, but was built later. The aluminum smelter was built between 1917 and 1919, to which the product name "Lautal" (artificial word) goes back. As the name suggests, aluminum was produced here until 1989. The water tower served to supply service and drinking water for the power plant and the aluminum plant.
