Very nice circular walk from the train station in Westerstede-Ocholt to the water mill in Howiek and back. The trail is marked with a white H on a black background.

On a narrow path you pass the draisinen-Ostbahnhof (with a rest area) and come through a small forest area, past the "Howieker Inhanger" rest area to the Howieker water mill. The Howieker water mill was built in 1608 and has numerous interesting stories about it. Continue A beautiful, narrow path takes you along "Karlshofer Straße", some of which is still paved with the original clinker bricks, to the "Karlshof" bathing lake. If you like, you can take a refreshing dip here not clear, but of good quality. The water quality has been checked regularly for decades and has always been flawless. From the bathing lake you continue on the path of the former "horse train". This is how the peat from Fintlandsmoor was used to get to the train station in Ocholt in earlier years.
