The first lock here was built in 1742. The current lock dates back to 1813, and was built in the years 1907-1909. Since 2003 it is fully automatic.

The Zehdenick Lock is located at km 15.90 of the Upper Havel Waterway in the town of Zehdenick in the district of Oberhavel in the north of Brandenburg.
Between the Kolk and the castle is the lock. The first traffic lock at the Mühlendamm was built in Zehdenick in 1742 and as early as 1813 a new lock was built at the same place, which was built as a chamber lock. Since the lock did not manage the many smuggling, 1907-09 a so-called double lock was built and until 1911/12 both locks were operated in parallel. The old lock chamber was shut down around 1930. Remains of the old lock basin, as the lock entrance are still clearly recognizable.

Today there is a parking lot with a beautiful view of the mill colony. Since 2003, the smuggling process has been fully automated and linked to the drawbridge via computer monitoring.

As the Obere Havel waterway is no longer used by cargo ships and is only used by a few small passenger ships, it has become a popular spot for pleasure boats of all sizes and classes.

The locking process has been fully automated since 2003 and linked to the drawbridge by computer monitoring. Since the Upper Havel waterway is no longer used by cargo ships and is only used by a few small passenger ships, it has developed into a popular area for sports boats of all sizes and classes.
The lock does not operate on the following public holidays: New Year's Day, Epiphany, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Christmas Day. Sylvester.
