In the 12th century, immigrants founded today's Baalsdorf. On the Anger they built a wooden, later, around 1220, a stone Romanesque choir church.
The church got its present appearance in 1748.
The church has bibles from 1665 and 1670.
In 1388, the abbey acquired a handwritten Bible for the price of 70 florin gold florins. At that time one could buy an ox for a gold guilder. So: a herd of cattle for a Bible. It took a monk about 1.5 years to copy the Bible.
