From the Schorrhöhe you have free access to the Hamburg Bergedorf observatory through a side entrance. It is worth taking a look without obligation. It is also interesting for laypeople, instructive and costs nothing.

Bergedorf has been home to the Hamburg observatory since 1912. Originally it was set up at Stintfang in St. Pauli, but was soon moved to Gojenberg in Bergedorf due to the heavy air pollution at the port of Hamburg: here the view was clearer.
A large ensemble of listed neo-baroque domed buildings, in which historical refractors and telescopes are located, is distributed in a large park. The University of Hamburg still researches in the field of astrophysics and observes planets, stars and other celestial bodies. The Chair for the History of Science and Technology is also represented here.
On the grounds of the observatory, visitors can not only look out over Bergedorf, but also independently follow the planet path and look upwards.
Via the visitor center in the Café Zeit und Raum you can book tours through the individual refractors or take part in the Sunday tours.
The Hamburg Observatory has been one of Germany's most recognized national cultural monuments since 2008. An application for recognition as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO has been made.

A visit is definitely worth it even without a MTB.
