It is said that Frederick the Great spent the happiest time of his life here on the picturesque Grienericksee. A little later, his younger brother, Prince Heinrich of Prussia, expanded the palace and garden into a wonderful place in the classicist style. Fontane and Tucholsky also fell for the charm of the place.
