The Brodtener steep bank is a 4 km long coastal strip of the Bay of Lübeck of the Baltic Sea Niendorf (municipality Timmendorfer beach) and the Lübeck Ostseebad Travemünde is limited.
The Brodtener steep bank got its name by the grooved, sometimes towering cliff as well as by the nearby village Brodten (from the Slavic: "the place near the water"), which belonged since 1935 to the district Lübeck Travemünde and thus to the Hanseatic city Lübeck. The closer hinterland is also referred to as Brodtener angle, which in turn is located in Travemünde angle. There are two ways to explore the Brodtener shore. The trail above the Brodtener steep shore is characterized by its easy accessibility, fitness for cycling and the beautiful panoramic views of the sea as well as in the Schleswig-Holstein hill country. The harder to walk trail below the cliff, which runs directly to the surf, is characterized by the sound of the sea, bank crashes, fallen trees, driftwood, driftwood, seaweed, shells and stones of all sizes and colors.
