The former Benedictine Abbey of St. Marcellinus and Peter is located in the center of Seligenstadt. The monastery complex, which was built between 830 and 840, can today be experienced in its baroque transformation. The Carolingian basilica - now as a parish church - is still the praise of God after the nine-year break. To this day, the three-tower group of the former abbey church forms a landmark that can be seen from afar in the Main valley between Spessart Odenwald and Taunus for Seligenstadt, nestling in the ever-expanding radius of the Mainbogen over the centuries. A popular legend evokes the memory of Einhard, the influential advisor and biographer of Charlemagne. Source:

The church of St. Marcellinus and Peter is located in Seligenstadt in Hesse, founded by Einhard, the biographer of Charlemagne, as a Benedictine monastery.
The church is the remnant of this monastery.

ÖZ of the Klostermuseum are March-Oct., The-Sun. 10-12 and 13-18 clock.
A romantic town with winding streets and friendly half-timbered houses.

I was fascinated by the inconspicuous herbals, which were provided with a skull symbol. From vervain to hemlock everything was represented, which in former times promoted many a king to the hereafter.
