Burg Posterstein (Touringen Stempelstelle Nr. 175)

The 800 year old Posterstein Castle is really worth a visit. It is built on a small castle hill in a valley basin. Is beautifully landscaped. A little below is a small castle church.

Posterstein has an interesting museum for the small purse. One can only recommend.

A beautiful little castle in Altenburger Land. A good start for my hike. And a small visit to the castle is worthwhile. Here you can learn all sorts of things about the castle and the surrounding area. For example, some info in Tannenfeld, which was the next goal of my hike.

Posterstein Castle looms over the beautiful village of Posterstein. The keep can be climbed. From here you have a wide view of the surrounding area.

The Posterstein Castle looks relatively unspectacular from the outside, but inside and the museum is great. A nice old castle. The view from the tower is fantastic and measures approx. 42m to the top. Also nice hiking trails around the castle. Very suitable for a family visit.

Posterstein Castle, also called Stein, is a hilltop castle on a rocky outcrop above the right bank of the Sprotte in Posterstein in the Altenburger Land district in Thuringia. The hilltop castle emerged from a small ministerial castle from the late 12th century, which was built over in the Renaissance period.

Great old walls with lots of charm. The castle, the church and the manor house offer a great backdrop and it's fun to explore the whole thing, even if it was only possible from the outside at the moment.

Small but beautiful castle with a museum and a beautiful all-round view.

The hilltop castle on the banks of the Sprotte dates back to the 12th century. The 12 meter high round keep, which has been preserved from this period, is striking. The castle was later rebuilt into a Renaissance-style residential chateau. From 1684-1701 the upper floor was removed and replaced by a half-timbered floor. The inner courtyard was vaulted and the baroque staircase was built. from
1956-1992 there was a children's home in it. Today the castle houses a museum on the history of the castle.
