The small town of Pedra, located at the foot of the Moixeró mountain range and attached to the municipality of Bellver de Cerdanya, is presided over by the parish church of Sant Julià, located on top of a cliff. The site of Pedra is documented as early as 966 and its church, of uncertain chronology, could be dated to the end of the 11th century. In the twelfth century it was already registered as a parish, and in 1198 it was sacked by the Albigensians under the orders of the Count of Foix and the Viscount Arnau de Castellbò.
