A historic place, today a place to remember and look around. Beautiful nature even in late winter.

Very beautiful and historical place with information panels, boundary stones, among other things with the boundary stone from 1844. The triangle is located near Prex (municipality Regnitzlosau, district Hof in Bavaria), Tiefenbrunn (municipality Eichigt, Vogtland district in Saxony) and Trojmezí (municipality Hranice, Okres Cheb in Czech Republic) and marks the point at which Bavaria, Saxony and Bohemia meet. Until 1990, the inner-German border between the Federal Republic of Germany and the GDR and the border with Czechoslovakia began at the triangle. It was part of the Iron Curtain. Until 1918 the border between Austria-Hungary and the German Empire ran here.

The so-called Dreiländereck, here the borders of 1844 at the Mühlbach to the Dreikönigreichs-Eck, the former Kingdom of Bavaria, Kingdom of Saxony and Kingdom of Bohemia, converge.
From 1945, this confluence of borders here at the border triangle gradually became an insurmountable border. Municipalities and the land of the peasants fell victim to this division. Families broke up, destroyed livelihoods in the border region brought unspeakable suffering to the people who lived here. A border with barbed wire, mines and death strips emerged.
In 1989 this border fell in a peaceful revolution, but the thoughts of expulsion and the degradation of man by man will remain. Today this place is a place of peace and contemplation, but also a "Green Belt", characterized by idyll and tranquillity.

A refreshment stop in Oberprex not far from the border triangle. This is where the traditional Gasthaus zur Linde in Oberprex is located. Along the eastern hiking trail you can enjoy a home-made snack on a detour in the cozy rural inn.
