The name Pochmühle belongs to a mill that stood on the site of the Richelsdorfer Hütte, across the street. Up until 1900, a steel mill was operated there, which shredded the copper slate that was mined around Nentershausen and Iba, hence the former name "Kupferhütte".
The road from Richelsdorf to Süß that passes it is now called the "Copper Road", and the two ponds that are located in the former Ulfteröder area are still called "Pochteiche". The first probably supplied the Pochmühle, the second served as a water reservoir for the Ulfteröder Schneidemühle. Finally there was a restaurant "Zum Hammer" on the site of the hut, the name of which also indicates a Pochmühle.

It should be noted that the Pochmühle is privately owned today (Trott zu Solz) and entry into the estate and upper lake is not desired.
Nevertheless, a beautiful place that offers many interesting photo opportunities.

A really idyllic place 😍Unfortunately, in November 2020 one of the houses with a thatched roof that can still be seen in the older photos burned down 🔥
