I found the trail from the big waterfall to the pier rather boring. The path down the water is much nicer

The first larger lake behind the entrance 1 is the famous Silver Lake. The treasure cave (Supljara pecina) is located at the far end of the lake and is walkable. Just to the left of the cave is the crevice through which the bandits descended to the lake.

We passed the cave once, unfortunately it was quite crowded at the time. When we were up, but you had quite a good overview of the lake and the jetties, where the masses of tourists run cross-country.

You can pass through the upper cave.

You are only allowed to sail once on the long route. By bus more often. So if you do not want to run so much should plan accordingly

Beautiful and well-kept hiking trails along the lakes, a beautiful landscape.

However, you have to be there in good time, otherwise it is very crowded, especially in summer, and the paths become very narrow in places due to the many visitors.

“The Treasure at Silbersee” was filmed here
But also “The Treasure in the Silver Lake”. In order to visit the former location, we would have had to take the shorter route. One of the lower lakes gave up the silver lake. And one of the around 100 caves in the national park, just above the lake, was the storage location for the treasure. The Karl May films of the 1960s: Winnetou and Old Shatterhand, Pierre Brice and Lex Barker. They were all filmed in the former Yugoslavia, in the Karst Mountains - and on the Plitvice Lakes. There was a political intention behind it by President Tito when he brought Western productions to his socialist, but non-aligned country. While doing research on the Internet, I come across a page that has stuck to Winnetou's footsteps and documents all of the locations. Film settings from then are meticulously juxtaposed with recordings from today: not much has changed in the natural scenery.

The treasure cave from the "Schatz im Silbersee" is not a cave in the actual sense, but a depression washed out of the rock by the water - a small cave barely 15 meters in length. Immediately next to the entrance to the grotto, the steps lead up through a crevice. This served as a descent for the tramps around Brinkley in "The Treasure in the Silver Lake".
