I found the trail from the big waterfall to the pier rather boring. The path down the water is much nicer

The first larger lake behind the entrance 1 is the famous Silver Lake. The treasure cave (Supljara pecina) is located at the far end of the lake and is walkable. Just to the left of the cave is the crevice through which the bandits descended to the lake.

“The Treasure of Silver Lake” was filmed here
But also “The Treasure in Silver Lake”. To see the original filming location, we would have had to take the shorter route. The Silver Lake was one of the lower lakes. And one of the 100 or so caves in the national park, just above the lake, was where the treasure was stored. The Karl May films of the 1960s: Winnetou and Old Shatterhand, Pierre Brice and Lex Barker. They were all filmed in the former Yugoslavia, in the Karst Mountains - and at the Plitvice Lakes. There was a political intention behind this on the part of President Tito when he brought western productions to his socialist but non-aligned country. While researching on the Internet, I came across a site that follows Winnetou's trail and documents all the filming locations. Film shots from back then are meticulously juxtaposed with shots from today: not much has changed in the natural scenery.
