Observation tower and landmark of the town of Alzey, located on the Wartberg. It is 28.15 meters high and offers a panoramic view of the Rhenish-Hessian landscape. The tower has a varied history, having been destroyed and rebuilt several times, although the current tower dates from 1988/89.During World War II, it was destroyed in a bombing raid in 1945, but the town of Alzey itself was largely spared, leading to the legend that the tower saved the town from destruction.
The current tower was rebuilt as an observation tower in 1989 and is considered a landmark and "savior of the town" for Alzey.
