Haidemühl, Lower Sorbian Gózdź, was an industrial community around ten kilometers west of Spremberg. Until January 1, 1964, the community was called Gosda-Haidemühl. The town of Haidemühl was devastated between 2004 and 2006 for the Welzow-Süd open-cast lignite mine. The majority of the last 645 residents were resettled in the newly built Haidemühl district of the town of Spremberg.
