Brownsea is the largest island in Poole Harbour. Owned by the National Trust, the island is a haven for wildlife. Red squirrels dart amongst the woodland and peacocks prance around the lawn in front of Brownsea Castle.

To reach the island, you can catch a boat from Poole Quay between 9.30am and 5pm. A return ticket on the ferry costs £12.50 for adults. For more information, see: nationaltrust.org.uk/brownsea-island
