Because of the idyll or scenic beauty, you don't necessarily have to climb down here. The whole thing seems a bit touristy and built up. Nevertheless, it's worth it, because the second longest river in Europe has its source here! It's simply impressive to imagine how this trickle becomes such a powerful stream.

The birth of a mighty river and probably the most impressive river in Europe! ❤️

This is the source of the Breg as one of the source rivers of the Danube. The designation or claim as a source of the Danube is controversial. After a long journey (around 40 km), the Breg unites with the Brigach near Donaueschingen to form the actual Danube (the second source of the Danube is disputed in Donaueschingen near the Brigach!) and, as is well known, flows far to the east into the Black Sea. Less than 2 km south of here in the direction of Rohrhardsberg beyond the watershed is the Elzquelle. The Elz flows in large arcs via the Leopold Canal and the Alte Elz into the Rhine and thus into the North Sea.
