Scaliger Castle of Sirmione

A beautiful castle. It is worth visiting the castle too. From the top you have a beautiful view of the peninsula. The pedestrian zone also begins from here. Cars are only allowed with permits.

Sirmione is a small resort popular with tourists on the southern shore of Lake Garda. A section of the village towers as a narrow and about three kilometers long headland north into the southern Lake Garda. In its narrowest and strategically important place, the former city lord of Verona, Mastino I delle Scala, built a fortified castle surrounded by a square wall with three towers in the middle of the 13th century on the walls of an old Roman fort. Today, the Castello di Sirmione is one of the best preserved castles on Lake Garda and a popular destination. The castle controlled the entrance to the old town of Sirmione and even today, every visitor to the picturesque streets must pass the fortified walls of the castle.
