The Karangahake Gorge combines gold mining history and beautiful nature. The Karangahake Gorge forms the natural separation of the Coromandel Range and Kaimai Range at the southern end of the Coromandel Peninsula on the North Island of New Zealand. The partially narrow and very winding gorge was formed by the Ohinemuri River, which is fed by tributaries from the two mountain ranges.
