His Majesty, the Großglockner: the highest mountain in Austria. Can only be attempted in good weather conditions, with sufficient climbing experience and good planning. If in doubt, hire a mountain guide in Kals.

It is a breathtaking experience to stand on the highest mountain in Austria. A popular starting point for the demanding ascent of the 3,798 meter high mountain is the Erzherzog-Johann hut, about one and a half hours away. You should only climb the summit of the Grossglockner in good weather conditions and with sufficient alpine experience.
Climbing with a local mountain guide, for example from Kals, is highly recommended. There is also the possibility to take part in a guided tour with Haflingers.
