Tayport Harbour is located on the east coast of Scotland, Fife, at the mouth of the river Tay. On the south side of the River Tay opposite Broughty Ferry Castle, the harbour is a listed building and is owned and operated by Tayport Harbour Trust, a small Scottish charity.

The harbour is primarily a working harbour for the motor boats and yachts which are kept there but it is also part of the wider community. The harbour walls are used by fisherman; walkers enjoy the views; it is a fine place to watch the waders and other birds - plus occasionally the dolphins - and a place where river users can come ashore.

Tayport is a historic harbour town with excellent views across to Broughty Ferry and down river to Tentsmuir Forest. The town has a range of facilities including shops, healthcare, a caravan park and a golf course. There are good bus links to both Dundee and St Andrews and, via Leuchars, rail links to Edinburgh and beyond.

Definitely a very nice waypoint on the cycle route that's worth a pause for that photo.
