Mountain Biking Highlight
Directly from the channel dike you get a wonderful insight into the extensive mountain subsidence and nature reserve Pöppinghäuser forest. On extensive expanses of water numerous bird species and even a gray heron colony can be observed. The biotope is a relatively natural and structurally rich area for animal and plant species within the agglomeration. Parts of the biotope are due to the location directly on the Rhine-Herne Canal relatively low interference. Although the adjacent canal is a technically shaped waterway, it also serves as a guideline and orientation for many waterfowl.
