Above the terraced surface located on the hydrographic right, at the southern end of the Stretta del Pescale, and locally called "Il Castellaro", it came into existence between the end of the 5th (or the beginning of the 4th) millennium and the end of the 3rd millennium (4,000- 2,800 BC) a Neolithic settlement. The remains of the settlement came to light starting from the end of the nineteenth century with the investigations of Giovanni Canestrini, professor of zoology at the University of Modena, and Gaetano Chierici. In particular, the Reggio Emilia archaeologist Gaetano Chierici carried out, in 1866, some archaeological tests in the north-northeast sector of the terrace, which led to the discovery of the Neolithic settlement and, in the superficial layers of the settlement, the remains of an Eneolithic village (3,500- 1,800)
