The bird sanctuary on the Main accommodates - according to information board - the largest gray heron colony in southern Germany. It is estimated that about 200 breeding pairs have their clumps in the Hangwald just behind the road between Dippach and Rossstadt built. So there is a lot of traffic. however, binoculars are very useful for observation from the tower, and a camera with a telephoto lens may be helpful.
