The Jagdhausalm is embedded in a picturesque natural scenery at 2,009 meters above sea level at the rear end of the Defereggental. It consists of 19 stone houses, as well as the Maria-Hilf-Kapelle and is one of the oldest mountain pastures in Austria. As far back as 1212, there were demonstrably 6 alpine huts that were called "Schwaighöfe" in the vernacular. Situated at 2,000 m above sea level and embedded between rocks and grass mats, they are often referred to as the "Little Tibet" of the Alps.
