    The wooden bunker under the Arichwand was a base for almost 20 resistance fighters in World War II. When the bunker was attacked by the SS police and the Volkssturm after a betrayal in the early hours of February 10, 1945, eight partisans (4 women, 4 men) died in the massacre. Three resistance fighters managed to escape. The badly battered and naked bodies of the murdered partisans were put on display for several days on the street near St. Peter to deter the local population and then buried in Dreulach on the Drauufer. Only after the liberation were they relocated and buried in a community grave in the cemetery in St. Jakob im Rosental.
