The Saatwinkler Steg is a pedestrian bridge built in 1990 over the Berlin-Spandau shipping canal (Hohenzollern Canal) at kilometer 1.06 in Berlin-Haselhorst.The location of the bridge was chosen based on various factors. A sufficient distance to the mouth of the old canal had to be maintained, and the widening of the Hohenzollern Canal immediately afterwards (this area now contains the canoe polo fields of the Verein für Kanusport Berlin e.V.) necessitated a further shift to the northwest. In addition, Bewag (today Vattenfall Europe Berlin) had high-voltage pylons in the area. In addition, consideration should be given to the existing tree population during construction, and the connection to the existing network of paths also played a role.
