At this point, at the Red Cross, the bones of numerous French soldiers are said to be buried. According to old records, imperial troops under General Petrasch had ambushed in the Tiefelter Hohle in June 1734, thus "striking a Parthey French of 300 men totaliter". Since that time in the Polish War of Succession, the ravine leading up here from Zeutern has also been known as the "French Hollow". Bones and equipment found in construction work in 1976 are proven to date from that time and support the tradition of the battle in the French cave.

sorry Martin, if I raise an objection, but this cross is NOT the "Red Cross" it looks different and is also "historical-classic" under an old large linden tree. The "Red Cross" is also really red (deleted) and not just sandstone red :-(
