This is the end point of the Meller Planet Trail. It begins in Melle in Grönenbergpark at the sun and follows the tables of the planets (Mercury - Venus - Earth - Mars - Jupiter - Saturn - Uranus - Neptune - Pluto) which are scaled apart from each other. Stars can be observed in the observatory after registration.

The observatory on the Moseler Berg is the second observatory in Melle next to the EXPO observatory. From here there is an unobstructed view over the fields to the Meller mountains.

The observatory is a worthwhile excursion destination, especially for night cyclists. It is run by the Osnabrück Natural Science Association and is always open on Saturdays after dark when the sky is clear. In the time around the summer solstice, the observatory was closed because the night sky was then no longer completely darkened.

In the past, you could donate money to the coffee box when you visit. I think that entry now costs three euros per person, which is not too much considering the effort and expense involved.
